Concrete Construction Safety

We spend a great deal of time and money insuring that our workers are properly trained and equipped to complete their work in the safest, most efficient way possible.  We take great pride in the safety record that our men and women have achieved over the past five years of zero fatalities and only seven cases of lost workdays across more than 500,000 production hours.

All of our projects receive the attention of our safety director for pre-task planning, training, and proper execution of all of our safety policies.  And our vertical cast in place work receives special attention on perimeter protection whether we are designing and building our own forming systems or utilizing a manufactured solution.

Safety Management

Management personnel from the president through the project supervisor attend formal annual safety training sessions. This improves safety awareness and provides instruction for implementing safety regulations on the construction site. When required, additional safety training is provided at the job site so that coworkers can recognize unsafe conditions and prevent injury.

Scheduled Training

Austin Concrete Development schedules OSHA re-certification training throughout the year focused on OSHA-10 and OSHA-30 certifications.  Field supervisors receive weekly safety training and reminders in the form of “tool-box” talks and specialized safety training for job-specific tasks, such as fall protection, rigging, scaffolding, and trenching.

Periodic Job Review

Periodic job site reviews are conducted by our Vice President of Construction, who is also our acting Safety Director to help ensure full compliance with the company’s Safety Policies, OSHA, and any other applicable local, state, or federal regulations. He assesses the effectiveness level and performance of all job site personnel in meeting the company’s standards as well as those required by any other regulatory body. The results of the review are discussed with job site management.  Any and all serious lapses in safety are documented in the employee’s permanent file and discussed in detail at our weekly meeting of Senior Management.
